Poetry

“Your Love” by Jennifer A., LA

Your love is like
Water for my soul
Filling up all the dry places
Without it life is empty and cold
Making even those
Who are young feel old
Your beautiful promises
Remove every fear
Who or what can stand against me
When You are so near?
Your love is like a river
That flows sure and true
Nothing in all creation
Can keep me from You
For who or what dares stand against
The very One who made it all?
If You wished it, just one word
Would make the whole sky fall
Your wonder is so great
Even the stars worship You
Yet the wonder of all wonders
Is that You love me the way You do

Poetry

“My Past” by Clyde W., IL

Learning from my past, here’s what I say.

Always wanting to do right, struggling every day.

Everyone has a past. Let me tell you about mine.

I’m forty-six years old, been to prison five times.

The pain and brokenness I’ve put my family through . . .

Selfish drug addict, yeah, I’ve been that too.

Looking back on life, I now see so clear

It is God who kept me alive, thankfully sitting here.

His promise of a Kingdom with no more pain.

Now, with the love of Christ, I’m able to change.

Looking into the future, how long will this change last?

I can tell you—forever, because of my past.

Poetry

“Not Guilty” by Anastasia V., KY

The plea says I’m guilty

And I inked my name.

With that single signature,

Life’ll never be the same.

Yet the burden of the court’s conviction

Is weightless to me.

The one true Judge,

My Lord and Savior,

Declares me

    Not.

        Guilty.

Now I can see

Why Jesus loves me.

Poetry

“Crash and Burn” by Shane B., TN

I toss and turn, crash and burn,

every night in my dreams.

It just keeps getting worse, dealing with hurts,

at least that’s how it seems.

I get so stressed, living like this,

each and every day.

That’s when I gotta decide to put away my pride

And hit my knees and pray.

Our Father, You are larger

than any problems that may arise.

I thank You, Lord, that I could afford

to see today’s sunrise.

But it’s so dark here in my heart.

Please, will You help me out?

Please make it right, shine in Your light

and take away my doubt.

I read that sin comes from within.

I think I need a heart transplant.

Please create in me a new heart

To be a new and better man!

Poetry

“Dunamis” by Larry S., PA

Beguiled by the supernatural

A naked victim of demonism

Fallen sky high from grace

Lost in oblivion

Screaming for redemption in a dark ugly

diabolical place

Then it came

Dunamis

Power from on high

It can only be expressed by the experience

that saved

My broken soul

I was frozen in mercy

Bathed by grace

The Holy Spirit gave me my deliverance

Now the peace still lingers within

Today the consequences are still the same

Only hope reamins

I’ll let God above have the full way

And follow the Lord the rest of my days

Poetry

“Out of Darkness” by Terry H., AL

Lost in a timeless void, where misery

And monotony become inseparably intertwined,

And all my hopes and drams are drained

Off like an abscess by the punishment

Of my present condition. All memory

Of light and beauty becomes tainted by

The atmosphere of this accursed place.

But then, like a shaft of sunlight

In the deepest dark,

God’s love finds me

And lifts me out of despair,

Out of sadness,

Out of solitude.

He reminds me that He cares about me,

And I immediately receive a

Verdict of NOT GUILTY.
